Haridwar to Char Dham Yatra 10 days

A 10-day itinerary for the Char Dham Yatra starting from Haridwar is a common and efficient way to cover Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath. This schedule follows the traditional clockwise route (Parikrama), which is spiritually significant and helps with altitude acclimatization.

10-Day Itinerary Outline

Day 1: Haridwar to Barkot (210 km / 7-8 hours)

Drive via Mussoorie. You can stop at Kempty Falls for a break. Barkot serves as the base for the Yamunotri trek.

Day 2: Barkot – Yamunotri – Barkot (36 km drive + 6 km trek one way)

Drive to Janki Chatti, then trek 6 km to Yamunotri Temple. After darshan and a holy dip in Surya Kund, trek back to Janki Chatti and return to Barkot.

Day 3: Barkot to Uttarkashi (90 km / 4 hours)

A shorter drive allowing for rest. In Uttarkashi, visit the Kashi Vishwanath Temple and the Shakti Temple.

Day 4: Uttarkashi – Gangotri – Uttarkashi (100 km / 3-4 hours each way)

Drive through the Harsil Valley to Gangotri. Visit the temple and take a dip in the Bhagirathi River. Return to Uttarkashi for the night.

Day 5: Uttarkashi to Guptkashi (220 km / 8-9 hours)

This is one of the longest driving days. The route follows the Mandakini River. Visit the Ardh Narishwar Temple upon arrival.

Day 6: Guptkashi to Kedarnath (30 km drive + 16-18 km trek)

Drive to Sonprayag/Gaurikund and begin the uphill trek to Kedarnath. Alternatively, helicopter services operate from Phata or Guptkashi. Stay overnight near the temple to attend the evening Aarti.

Day 7: Kedarnath to Guptkashi/Sitapur (16-18 km trek down + 30 km drive)

After morning darshan, trek back down to Gaurikund and drive to Guptkashi or Sitapur for rest.

Day 8: Guptkashi to Badrinath (190 km / 7-8 hours)

Drive via Chopta, often called the "Mini Switzerland of India." Reach Badrinath by evening and attend the Aarti at the Badrinath Temple.

Day 9: Badrinath to Rudraprayag (160 km / 6-7 hours)

After morning darshan and a dip in Tapt Kund, visit Mana Village (the last Indian village). Begin the return journey, stopping at the confluences (Prayags) like Vishnuprayag and Karnprayag.

Day 10: Rudraprayag to Haridwar (165 km / 6-7 hours)

Drive back via Rishikesh. Witness the Devprayag confluence (where Alaknanda and Bhagirathi meet to form the Ganga). The journey concludes with a drop-off in Haridwar
